Star wars jedi twilight6/19/2023 Simply put, these experienced teachers broke tradition and made Luke's journey more difficult. Clearly, it's a big oversight and quite a risk to assume Luke would keep his weapon intact, or somehow figure out where to get the tools to assemble them on his own. It is poor succession planning, with Yoda assuming Luke would find and decipher the tomes. Yoda didn't do this, eventually dying and never addressing it as a Force Ghost. Thus, he'd have to build more weapons for students and teach them as they rebuilt the Order. Plus, Luke was viewed as the Chosen One, meant to bring balance to the Force. That's because if Luke lost his lightsaber, or it got destroyed, it's not like there were many available all over the galaxy. Admittedly, the Empire was hot on their trail in A New Hope, but Yoda had no excuse when they trained on Dagobah for a much longer time. It should have been the first thing Obi-Wan Kenobi lectured on. Now, what makes Luke's predicament annoying is there's no reason his seniors should have omitted this lesson.
